Alex Ferrara, Occupational Therapist

Alex Ferrara, MS, OTR, CHT, CLT, Cert. Reiki II

Hi, I’m Alex.  I am an Occupational Therapist, Certified Hand Therapist, Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and a Level II Reiki Practitioner.  I created StrongAfterStroke.com to support, share knowledge, motivate, and empower stroke survivors to achieve their best recovery possible.  As an Occupational Therapist for over 30 years, I have worked with hundreds of stroke survivors to assist them in their recovery.  Helping people improve their hand and upper extremity function after stroke has always been a special area of interest of mine, and I am always researching new techniques that may benefit people.

The brain’s ability to heal and adapt after an injury is amazing and I am passionate about stroke treatment approaches that help to retrain the brain and promote neuroplastic changes in the brain.  The mind-body connection is an important part of the stroke recovery process which is often not taught to stroke survivors or their families during formal rehabilitation.  I strive to educate people about techniques in an easy-to-understand way so that they can utilize them in their daily lives.

Hi, I’m Jason.  I am an Exercise Physiologist, Fitness Specialist, and Coach certified through the American Academy of Sports Medicine, with over 17 years of experience in the fitness field.  Over the past four years, I have expanded my career to include Occupational Therapy, and I have worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.  During that time, I have coached hundreds of clients post-stroke to improve their health through exercise, functional training, and coaching so that they can achieve their goals and return to function.

My goal is to help stroke survivors create lasting lifestyle changes through specialized exercise plans.  I believe consistency is key for life, health, exercise, and stroke recovery.  My passion is to guide you, and keep you motivated, engaged, and ready to be strong after your stroke.
